Encouragement From the Phoenix May Day Action Committee to Organize A May to Remember, Strike Everywhere
On 06, Feb 2012 | No Comments | In COMMUNIQUE | By strikeeverywhere.net
Hello friends across the states and throughout the world, we are writing to you from Phoenix Arizona, you may know us from our cactus, reactionary politicians, union busting laws and lack of seasons.
Twelve years ago anarchists, activists and many unaffiliated folks got together to plan the first May Day demonstration in Phoenix since the early 20th century. That organizing, which was open to anyone and uncompromising in its revolutionary language, helped shape a new kind of politics in Phoenix and Arizona that still exists today. We see the possibility, in organizing and planning for this May 1st, to accomplish the same thing, but this time on an even larger scale.
With that said, we are supporting the Strike Everywhere call to action and the developing action framework, specifically the focus on the days leading up to May 1st. With the thought of the global uprisings, May 1st and the Chicago G8 in mind we can’t help but think that for people serious about change, this summer will be a catalyst for years to come.
We are encouraging everyone to begin planning, thinking, talking and organizing now for May Day and beyond. People everywhere are hungry for something new, the Democrats, union bureaucracy and authoritarian left do not have the answers. We possess a great ability to inspire, if we fail to act, we can only expect more of the same. Or to make it more clear, “we wont be remembered by what we didn’t do.”
For a May 1st to remember,
Phoenix May Day Action Committee
Our Ideals Framework:
On May First, we call on all metro phoenix to celebrate Mayday 2012, in the sprit of resistance against capitalist exploitation and state oppression. We envision creating a culture of resistance right now that fights for a free humanity. Join us, celebrate Mayday.
